Yes: All narcotic medications bind the same receptor with different affinity making some more efficacious at lower doses.  The Oxycodone should be fine and and you shouldn't need it for very long.  Get off of it as soon as you can.  Why do you want to use Nucynta (tapentadol) instead?

nucynta (tapentadol) er 100mg and oxycodone and i broke out in hives. i have stopped the oxycodone but i still have the hives and itching. how do i stop the hives?

Different meds: Opioid type pain medications are commonly a cause of hives.  This is especially true for codeine, morphine, and demerol (meperidine hydrochloride).   Antihistamines can help relieve the hives but discontinuing the medication is also important.  Check with md for alternative pain medications.

Yes: Is she taking all of them at once? Well, regardless, hallucinations in the elderly is delirium until ruled out. It could be a simple urinary tract infection even, but delirium is brain failure and needs to be evaluated immediately. Please get her to an er asap. Delirium can be very painful for the patient if they still retain insight. I've been through it before post-op. Please take her there now!

May be : You are probably allergic to class of medications called narcotics and Demerol (meperidine hydrochloride) and Dilaudid are from the same family try non steroidal as Motrin advil or tram afoul ultramodern.

Nucynta: This is an analgesic that has a Norepinephrine effect as well. Its a dual mechanism medication. withdrawal is mild in most cases. Comes in both extended and immediate release forms.

Possible, yes: I have seen some physicians use Nucynta (tapentadol)  for the long acting medication and Percocet for breakthrough, but this needs to be very closely monitored. I would recommend you discuss with your physician increasing your Nucynta (tapentadol) if you are constantly needing short acting breakthrough meds.

Nucynta (tapentadol) is like opia: nucynta (tapentadol) ER is like a long lasting opiate.in that it interacts with opiate receptors and some people get a buzz from it. it does have addiction potential. So as you might have guessed I would say no. Tomorrow assuming no additional nycenta ER.

Morphine and tapenta: Morphine works only on opioid receptors. Tapentadol works on opioid receptors and norepinephrine uptake. 
It would make no sense to take both as short acting - one has to be long acting and the other short acting.

i take nucynta (tapentadol) 50 mg every 12 hours. i'm in a lot of pain. i took one at 10 am. can i take another now?

Call Dr - ask/inform: Definitely call your doctor to ask or inform them. You dose is low, so it will probably not be dangerous, but try to avoid any more until the next due dosage until you contact them. Be careful w/ what you do once you've taken another - i.e., no driving. In extreme cases 100mg are used - don't worry. Just be careful and call!
