Different meds: Opioid type pain medications are commonly a cause of hives. This is especially true for codeine, morphine, and demerol (meperidine hydrochloride). Antihistamines can help relieve the hives but discontinuing the medication is also important. Check with md for alternative pain medications.

Hives: Sounds like the Nucynta (tapentadol) er may be the cause. I would talk to my doctor. One option would be to stop the Nucynta (tapentadol) and restart the oxycodone.
