: It depends on the cause, chronicity, and severity of the condition. If it is due to H pylori infection, most regimens last 14 days. 14d heals most mild cases. If there is an ulceration, folks will treat for 6-8 weeks; There are a lot of other variables to consider but that usually heals most cases.

egd showed moderately severe gastritis and duodenitis with erosions.biopsies negative for h.p. been taking ppis for 2 weeks and added carafate last friday. still get acid taste in mouth, even on empty stomach. how long does it take to heal stomach?

: More details are needed to address your health specifically. In general, the stomach needs a month to health, then again if the irritant continues, smoking, alcohol, ibuprofen, sleep apnea, late-night eating then the healing slows down, like putting salt on a wound.

No longer mild: The pain pattern is critical in establishing the diagnosis, before or after meals, periods of high stress, etc. How was your diagnosis made? In case you did not have an upper endoscopy, you might need one. Would recommend that you keep a log with the  type of food/ drinks that you ingest and the timing/character of your pain and bring it to your follow-up visit.

Yes: How was the diagnosis made?Depending on presence of h pylori or not, you may need in addition antibiotics. Avoid nsaids and smoking . The brief diagnosis use of protons inhibitors or h2 blockers are relatively safe.

Gastritis: Given your story this can be an infection, a reaction to medication or alcohol. A stomach that is not fully healed due to gastritis may not heal well even on ppis if one continues to drink alcohol or to take toxic medications.

Gastritis and fever?: My concern is that gastritis would not be accompanied by a fever. Did you diagnose yourself with gastritis? If your having a fever along with symptoms of gastritis, I would certainly see a doctor very soon to entertain other possibilities for your symptoms.

Right diagnosis?: I would make sure that you have the right diagnosis. If it is right, you could try double dose ppi or perhaps an alternative ppi.

i have gastritis, i t0ok antacid (kremil-s) and stil hurts. how much time do i have to wait to take my prescribed ppi (prevacid (lansoprazole) fdt) ?

No waiting: The ppi takes a week or two to build up in your system and work effectively. It won't work immediately like an an-acid does. Try a different an-acid like Pepcid ac or Zantac until the Protonix (pantoprazole) kicks is.

Dietary modification: It might take few months before full effect but need more information. Where you dx with H pylori?
Also remember couple of important points
1. Dietary modification is very important - no spicy, oily food. Tea, coffee can cause acidity. you need to observe what foods are causing acidity for you. Yogurts help
2. Long term PPI use can cause decrease Calcium observation and can weaken bones
