what does it mean if you have strep throat, and red, swollen gums too?

Throat and gums: Strep throat is only one kind of pharyngitis. Most are viral. Have you seen a doctor and gotten a diagnosis? If not, you should. A simple test will show whether or not it's true strep. Red, swollen gums may or may not be related, but are most often due to inflammation, i.e., gingivitis, common with poor oral hygiene. You should see a physician about your throat and a dentist about your gums.

my gums have become quite swollen due to strep throat and it seems like i have tiny canker sores on my gums. should i be worried? how can i treat it?

Strep throat: Strep does not cause open sores in the gums or back of the throat. You may either have an additional problem with viral infection or u could have two problems. Either way if the sores bother you see your doctor. You may benefit ether from an antiviral drug like Acyclovir or your doc may use a topical drug like silver nitrate to treat the sores.

Fungal Infection?: The differential diagnosis on this is fairly limited.  Most commonly a fungal infection/ allergy can be the culprit.  However, it could be something more difficult, such as a herpetic infection, or exotic like pemphigus.  I would recommend a trip to your Dentist for visual examination and possible medication/treatment.

Gum disease: One of the main causes of gums being swollen and bleeding is gum disease. Regular brushing and flossing along with over the counter mouth rinses should be the only treatments that you need to do at home.  Your dentist can check to see if you have gum disease.  If your condition gets resolved from the brushing and flossing then it could have been gingivitis.  Your dentist can let you know.

Get a dental exam: Bleeding gums are often the first sign of gingivitis.  Brushing too hard can also cause bleeding. Cigarettes and other tobacco products also may be causative. You need a dental exam as soon as possible.

i had a ct x ray,had to drink barium sulfate, what my concern is i had bleeding gums at the time, wondering if barium got into my blood and system, it seems like i have exasperated throat clearing issues, and some cough, flem etc..,got worse?

: Barium would not get into your blood from bleeding gums.
For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.

See dentist: This could be anything from a viral illness (if it happened all of a sudden) to a chronic infection, periodonitis.  While good oral care with brushing and flossing can prevent periodonitis, once it occurs, you need to get it professionally cleaned as well as possible antibiotics.  The longer you wait, the more chance of permanent damage (aka lost teeth or worse infection).

Rapid swelling: May indicate onset of a generalized systemic problem rather than a localized inflammation.  Best to see a gum specialist, a Periodontist, so this problem can be lad dressed before serious wide spread damage is done.

Vitamin C deficiency: The symptoms you described are classic symptoms of vitamin c deficiency(scurvy).  The symptoms in part or in whole could be secondary to a number of medical problems.  Without more clinical information a more specific response is not possible.
