Throat and gums: Strep throat is only one kind of pharyngitis. Most are viral. Have you seen a doctor and gotten a diagnosis? If not, you should. A simple test will show whether or not it's true strep. Red, swollen gums may or may not be related, but are most often due to inflammation, i.e., gingivitis, common with poor oral hygiene. You should see a physician about your throat and a dentist about your gums.

Not unusual: It is not uncommon for your strep throat to spread to other areas of your mouth make sure you keep it clean. As possible if your gums stay swollen after your strep is gone then see a periodontist to evaluate your gums.
