A repeat study now: Cysts in the abdominal organs are common and fairly harmless.
if you are concerned, you should discuss it with your doctor who ordered the MRI last year. A repeat MRI done now will put the issue to rest.

results from mri done under the liver protocol mri reads, "liver parenchyma mild heterogeneous signal alteration." should i push for follow up if my dr says it's nothing to worry about. i have carcinoid?

progressive unilateral tinnitus/snhl since 2009- 1.5t contrast enhanced mri of iam/brain in 2013 normal, 1.5t mri in 2014 brain and iam protocol also normal but 2014 mri was without contrast. is the second mri still reliable if no contrast used?

: Presume MRI's were done due to hearing loss and tinnitus, and from your report, no sign of acoustic neuroma or other lesions.  Since the last MRI was done 7-8 yrs ago, things may have changed.  Discuss with your doctor whether an updated evaluation is indicated.

It : It should be fairly straight forward.  Some radiology practices have a policy against providing an official over-read, while others will routinely provide this service.  You will need to have your physician request an official reading.  They will then import your images into their system and read your study.  The techniques used to acquire the images may be slightly different; however, rendering an accurate reading should be easy.

: I do not know why original MRI scan was done for, however there is no set protocol how long to follow and how often. Knowing it is unchanged in size for three and half years and assuming you have no symptoms discuss with your physician and do follow up on demand so far it is at a reasonable interval. The cystic cancers of the pancreas are rare hence to wait and watch policy is okay.

my doctor ordered a brain mri with stealth guidance w/wo contrast & pituitary protocol for surgery of an adenoma. should i get it as a 3t or 1.5t ? which is better for this? he left it up to me?

Accepted Answer

: The 3 Tesla has higher resolution and can pick up small lesions which may be missed by the 1.5 Tesla.  Better detail of the pituitary area can be seen with 3T.  But there may be a higher expense to do the 3T vs. the !.5T and would check with insurance coverage.

ultrasound abdomn. says: 2 hyperechogenic hepatic lesions without hypervascularity in the right lobe measuring 32.81.2 cm  and 1.61.92.2 cm further catheterization with mri liver mass protocol recommended. what does all that means ?

Liver mass: It means there are 2 spots in your liver that have a high blood flow and could possibly be abnormal. They can not tell exactly what they are by ultrasound. You need an MRI which will give much greater detail. You should see your primary care doctor to help arrange this. But it means there might be a problem in your liver and you need follow up tests- don't ignore this.

if abdominal ct followed by abdominal mri with/wo contact were both completely normal. does that rule out most cancers, including pancreatic? or is pancreatic protocol needed ? elevated liver and pancreatic enzymes of unknown cause?

: If both abdominal CT and MRI with or without contrast are completely normal, it may not completely rule out all types of cancer, including pancreatic cancer. However, it does make it less likely. Elevated liver and pancreatic enzymes of unknown cause should be further evaluated to determine the underlying cause.

It is super important for imaging of the brain and spine. It is very important for imaging of the prostate and breast.  It is good for almost any kind of imaging if done properly.  It does not use ionizing radiation and therefore is safer than using xrays.
