A member asked:

What is an mri/mrcp protocol of following head/body 2mm pancreatic cyst that has not changed in size in 3.5 years(three years and six months stable)? ca 19-9 tumor marker is 6 u/ml with a normal standard range less than 36 u/ml.is it 2, 3 or 7 years?

I do not know why original MRI scan was done for, however there is no set protocol how long to follow and how often. Knowing it is unchanged in size for three and half years and assuming you have no symptoms discuss with your physician and do follow up on demand so far it is at a reasonable interval. The cystic cancers of the pancreas are rare hence to wait and watch policy is okay.

I do not believe the necessity of serial MRI/MRCP imaging for a tiny pancreatic cyst.
