i broke my invisalign tray a week into its cycle. it was already feeling loose and the next tray is not uncomfortable. is it okay to just move on?

Invisalign Sequence: The new tray must fit perfectly onto your dentition, otherwise it will not work properly. If it does not work properly, that small error will be passed on and magnified for every successive tray. Let your treating dentist take a look.. it only takes a minute... and you may prevent the need to manufacture an entire new set of trays.

i forgot to wear my invisalign trays! will it make a difference either way?

Accepted Answer

For how long ?: If the current tray no longer fits well, it may make a difference. Best to see your dentist, and bring in the prior two trays for evaluation.

my boyfriends dog ate my top invisalign tray and i was supposed to wear it for 5 more days. should i put my precious tray in or go to the next one?

Accepted Answer

Only: Only your treating Dentist or specialist Orthodontist knows your rate of progress.  Wear the lower, call the Dentist or Orthodontist and ask for advice.  Inserting a new tray before you have properly staged the upgrade may be counterproductive.  You may even have to drop back one tray until a replacement tray can be provided.

i am supposed to wear my invisalign trays for one week and then change them. after wearing tray 1 for 4.5 days it feels completely normal. can i change into tray 2 2.5 days early if it feels like they fit well?

Orthodontics: Tooth movement, whether via traditional brackets and wires or by plastic trays must be accomplished in a slow, steady pace. Bone resorbs on one side of the tooth socket, whereas bone remodels and forms on the opposite side of the socket. Trying to move teeth too fast can cause permanent damage to the underlying bone. This damage cannot be repaired. Follow your instructions.

No worry: You should immediately go back to your previous aligner and have your dentist or orthodontist order a replacement for the lost one. Good luck.

i stopped wearing my invisalign because i was worried about taking them in and out during the covid pandemic. ive stopped wearing them for the most part since march. so ive stopped wearing them for about 5 months. can i safely go to earlier trays?

No: Over five months your teeth most probably have shifted to a point where you will need new impressions and new trays. You've substantially prolonged your treatment time. Please call your treating dentist or orthodontist and make an appointment to continue with your care. And yes, their offices are safe... your will not catch COVID19 there.

i have strep throat, how should i clean my invisalign trays?

Mouth guard cleaning: Be sure you take your antibiotics.  You can clean them or disinfect them with an antibacterial mouth rinse or spray.

hi, so i'm on my 5th trays of invisalign but i switched to the 5th set from the 4th set accidentally two days later than i was supposed to. i still wore my 4th set for those two extra days though. i have elastics and i'm getting my jaw corrected as well a

No harm done: Wearing your 4th set of trays for two extra days prior to switching to your 5th set will have no long term effect on your treatment. You are probably doing better then most patients with Invisalign.

Question 9

two top front teeth were moved down on invisalign, but while waiting for retainers, have moved back up in days after the attachment on one tooth was removed (even though i'm still strictly wearing the last tray). why would this occur/what should i do?

Accepted Answer

: Teeth are held in bone by elastic fibers. Those fibers retain memory and it takes quite a while for the memory to abate (like a stretched rubber band). You'll need to consult with your treating dentist/orthodontist since additional treatment may be necessary.

i was on invisalign treatment. im on retainers now. but i used to brush the trays with toothpaste and water. could this have affected my treatment?

No: No/ The trays should not be affected by toothpaste or water.
