Hand weakness : Here is one possibility:  this can occur as someone wears a sling for prolonged periods or hold the affected arm bent against their chest.  This can lead to ulnar neuritis at the elbow and hand weakness.   This typically leads to some level of numbness and tingling in the ring and small fingers.

my shoulder has been hurting in the deltoid region and am fairly sure it's a torn rotator cuff. now my 2 little fingers are numb at night, any advice?

See medical provider: Pain in the deltoid region is a common symptom of shoulder problems.  This could be shoulder bursitis, tendonitis, rotator cuff injury or cartilage damage.
The 2 little fingers tingling at night is likely  your ulnar nerve irritated behind the elbow called cubital tunnel syndrome.
You should see a medical provider for evaluation.  You may benefit from a shoulder MRI and an EMG (nerve study).

No: If the question is, can a torn rotator cuff cause numbness in the fingers, then the answer is no.  Numbness is caused by neurologic pathology such as carpal tunnel syndrome, a herniated disk, cubital tunnel syndrome.  Best to have your numbness evaluated by your physician.

No, neck more likely: A rotator cuff tear will cause weakness and localized pain in and around the shoulder. Cervical neck pain resulting from local nerve compression, however, can cause numbness down in to the fingers, as can any peripheral compression of the nerves along the pathway from the cervical spine along the nerve course to the fingers.

No: The two have minimal affect upon the other. There are cases where a surgery for the rotator cuff tear (arthroscopy with rotator cuff repair) causes enough swelling in the hand. The swelling can cause "triggering", or stiffness in the index finger. Just a torn rotator cuff can on rare occasions cause the same problem. Other surgeries to the shoulder, elbow, or wrist can do the same.

Unlikely: Rotator cuff ' injuries' usually result in pain@ night and referred pain to the deltoid( mid- upper arm). Pts. W/ rot. Cuff tears for some time can have pain/ spasms in their neck( trapezius usually) because of their difficulty elevating their arm normally and their resultant use of their scapula to ' help'raise their shoulder..'.Tingling'in fingers is rare w/ rc injuries.(cts, rad.Pain &gt;common).

Trust the orthopod : Surgery is probably the best treatment option for chronic unbearable shoulder pain with history of a torn cuff persisting from adolescence into adulthood. Conservative therapy at this stage will more likely be futile as it would only treat the symptoms. Surgery can treat the cause.  Most people are afraid of surgery until they are fixed.

my husband has a torn rotator cuff and bi tendon.its been torn for 5 yrs and just now getting to the surgery. the doctor says after looking at the mri he needs to see an oncologist because of marrow hyperplasia in the humerus. likely cancer?

Marrow hyperplasia ?: An incidental finding of what is described as "marrow hyperplasia" by an orthopedic physician may need an opinion by a hematologist/oncologist (the specialty does not only deal with cancer).  Simple blood testing prior to contemplated surgery will confirm in general whether in fact there is "marrow hyperplasia".
