Not necessarily.: It can depend on where you cut the 1400cals from, a 6000cal or a 3000cal diet as long as you have no cardiac or other problems, you should be fine. Keep up the good work! Be sure to keep well hydrated. The only people I would worry about are those who are loosing weight, unintentionally.

Weight loss: That will depend on a number of things. How many calories will you be burning per day? It is about (roughly) 100 calories per mile. It takes 3,500 calories to burn a pound.

Metabolism: You may need more than 3500 calories a day. You may be mostly muscle and low in fat. Try having 2 -3 ounces of nuts a day or a nutritional drink containing an extra 250-300 calories a day. You should be able to gain a pound in 2-3 weeks providing you dont cut back your calories and actually do increase your intake.

Only - if you are a: Mouse.  You will put your body into starvation mode and your metabolic rate will drop. This will possibly make you sick and you will actually gain weight more easily.

Moderate: Moderately active- that is good- you are walking a 15 minute mile for about one hour a day. If you waked faster that might be considered more activity and highly active. The speed as well as the time of an activity contributes to the description you are asking.

Careful....: Extreme diets dont work .  You basically need to burn more calories than you take in.  Increase your exercise, choose healthier, less-caloric foods and drinks.  The nice thing is that if u build more muscle you will even burn more calories while you sleep!  and don't focus too much on weight.  Focus more on pants-size, etc.  Muscle weighs more than fat but that's ok--its good wt.
