Examination: Ask your Dentist to examine you for damage.  If a product actually does what it advertises on the box it may be eligible for the ADA Seal of Approval.  If no seal, no one has tested it's effectiveness.  And, as you know, you get what you paid for.

Not likely: Not likely. However, you can set yourself up for some serious decay, as the soda has phosphoric acid in it which will demineralize the tooth and if there is sugar, you will be ripe for decay. Many sodas also have citric acid which will make it even worse. Drink water. Good Luck.

No: Soda should not cause gum recession. But overzealous use of the whitening gel could. By not following the stated directions you my have caused irreversible damage. Please see a local dentist for evaluation... recession can also result from brushing too hard or grinding. Exposed roots may be sensitive or decay faster than enamel covered surfaces.

No, see a dentist: Over the counter home kits don't have anything for sensitive teeth.  You would need to have a dentist provide a custom tray and in combination with the whitening, Fluoride gel would need to done prior to and along with the whitening.

how much does laser teeth whitening damage your teeth and gums? i'd like to get my teeth whitened, and have read that laser teeth whitening can cause your teeth to be tender. does it do any permanent damage?

In : In office light (laser or uv) activated tooth whitening does not cause damage to the teeth or gums in the hands of a competent clinician.  You may experience a temporary tooth sensitivity but it usually subsides within 24 hours and can easily be managed by otc pain meds.

Beware of these: The most reliable products are available from your dentist.  They have been thoroughly. Tested and proven safe.  So have many products in the stores, like crest white strips.. Beware of online products .  You never know what's in there.  Stick with major brand names.  They are tested, reliable and  safe. Your health is more important than saving a few bucks.
