i think i might have a ganglion cyst on the joint that connects my pinky to my hand.it feels like it is "popping" when moving it.should i be worried?

If it pops when-: -U flex it and locks, &amp; U feel the lump move with the tendon, it is most likely a trigger finger. Injections can help some people, but if it doesn't last surgery is the way to go.

: if it is painful and function limiting the tfcc central tear often requires arthroscopic debridement .Ganglion cysts do  not require surgery unless they enlarge and become painful

This : This is definitely not a good idea, you could cause further injury. You can see a dermatologist or your primary care provider for treatment. A common procedure is placing a needle into the cyst drawing the liquid out, and then injecting a steroid, and then splinting the wrist to keep it from moving. This fairly successful treatment and is a good option for you since you have had the cyst for 6 months.

Fluid sack off joint: Joints are held together by ligaments and capsular tissue. These structures provide stability for the joint and keep the synovial fluid in place.  Sometimes a small opening will develope in the capsule/ligament complex, allowing fluid to escape the joint. The body walls this fluid off in a membranous cyst.  They get bigger and smaller because the communicate with the joint. They are often painless.

Sometimes: Ganglion cysts can fluctuate in size and appear to have resolved. Sometimes they have decreased in size yet can still cause pain. Other times they may not cause any pain at all and subsequently may not require treatment.
