have a small, round yellow cyst show up after a head cold/virus on the upper side edge of my tonsil. ent said it's a lymphoepithelial cyst (saw photo) and just monitor for a few months. do these tonsil cysts just drain, pop or go away on their own?

Accepted Answer

: It is either a retention cyst or a lymphoepithelial cyst, the latter is rarely seen on tonsil. Cyst will likely persist and it should be removed if it becomes symptomatic or it enlarges quickly. Cyst can be removed along with the affected tonsil.

very small yellow round cyst like swelling right above/attached the right tonsil. had a head cold before this appeared, looks like it is filled with soft material/mucus? no fever, no swelling of lymph nodes and sore throat has cleared. virus?

: If those are benign collections due to the possibly viral infection they should improve and resolve within the next 5-7 days. You should see an ENT doctor if they get bigger or persist until next week.

You could have: A viral upper respiratory infection. Do you have alleriges?

Usually not: more likely to cause runny nose increase moist discharge

Accepted Answer

Neti pot: Good question, probably not. Theoretically could cause more of a spread down into your respiratory tract. If you do it regularly for sinus issues you could continue but wouldn't start it for the virus.

used about 50 tissues today because of my darn nose. could these just my allergies, or some virus or cold?

Accepted Answer

Hard to Tell: It depends on what your sensitivities are and the description of your symptoms. Allergies usually present not only with a runny nose but also itching, sneezing, eye watering/itching, post-nasal drip, etc. Common cold can cause some of these symptoms but usually not itch or eye symptoms. See an Allergist for further workup and treatment to determine if allergy related.

is it possible to get a nasal septal hole from a virus test that was inserted into nose thank you?

Accepted Answer

: Anything is possible, but a COVID-19 rapid test or PCR has never caused a perforation that has been reported.  However,  intranasal snorting of cocaine, or other recreational drugs have caused such nasal holes.

my son carries the mrsa virus in his nose what precautions need to be taken around the other kids so they don't contract the virous?

MRSA is a bacteria: If it was my son i'd try to decolonize him with bactroban (mupirocin) (mupericin) ointment into the nose twice a day for 7-10 days and hibiclens soap shower and shampoo daily for 10-14 days.  To prevent spread he should not touch his face, then others.  He should wash his hands or use hand sanitizer frequently.  He should not share towels, clothing or personal hygene items with others.

ifsomeone has a virus like temperature, pharyngalgia, running nose, can second person bring this virus to the third person?

Accepted Answer

Maybe, if close...: A person may be able to carry a virus from one person to another, if there is close contact.  For example, a person may touch one person (and get nose mucus plus viruses on her hand) and then immediately touch another person on the face, thus transmitting the mucus plus viruses.  Another example is if a person kisses one person (and obtains viruses) and then immediately kisses another person.

my student was coughing to the back of my head.i got a cold with cough,runny&stuffy nose 2 days later.did the virus from my student's cough cause this?

Accepted Answer

Yes: or one of the dozens of other viruses your other students are harboring this time of year. Children are disease vectors, and infectious diseases are contagious before the carrier is ever symptomatic. Incubation period on the typical cold is 7-10 days, so that's when your exposure likely occurred. Hope this helps!
