MRSA is a bacteria: If it was my son i'd try to decolonize him with bactroban (mupirocin) (mupericin) ointment into the nose twice a day for 7-10 days and hibiclens soap shower and shampoo daily for 10-14 days. To prevent spread he should not touch his face, then others. He should wash his hands or use hand sanitizer frequently. He should not share towels, clothing or personal hygene items with others.
