ive just had a mini tummy tuck with lipo of flanks. im 10 days post operation. when i sit my lower belly now makes a roll of fat over the incision and the incision tucks in. othis normal due to swelling? will it go down to make a flat belly?

can a tummy tuck cause deep vein thrombosis? i've been told that deep vein thrombosis can happen during or after a tummy tuck. is this true, and if so, why? how is it prevented?

Deep : Deep vein thrombosis can occur during tummy tuck

preventive measures that reduce the possibility ---
   1. Pneumatic compression stockings during surgery
   2. Passive exercise of the lower extremities at the beginning and at the end of the surgery
   3. Early ambulation after the surgery (i make sure that my patients are out of bed walking - two hours after the surgery).

Herpetic : Herpetic outbreaks are often sporatic but can be spurred on by stress.  Any surgery can be both emotionally and physically stressful.  I suggest that you contact your plastic surgeon and see if they feels a course of antivirals pre and post operatively might minimize your risk of an acute outbreak.  There is no need to make you more miserable than you need to after a tummy tuck.  Best wishes.

In : In a mini-tummy tuck the only skin and subcutaneous fat removed is from below the belly button. If you were to gain or lose weight after this surgery it may effect the way your abdomen looks but should not cause an odd or unusual accumulation of fat elsewhere.

Probably unrelated: Unless you have lesions over suture lines , either in the midline or the lower abdominal scar, that could indicate suture related issues, blister are not explained , this far out, from tummy tuck. You may need to see a dermatologist.

Yes with precautions: You can under go tummy tuck type i von willebrand   factor xi will be low , you have to let surgeon and anesthesiologist have to know, to get ready with  factor xi  if needed , type ii  needs factor to prevent bleeding  type iii  besides xi , viii  will be low and behaves like hemophelia.

Tummy Tuck: Medical reasons for tummy tuck would be primarily related to infection or other problems with redundant skin. Otherwise reasons would primarily be cosmetic.
