53 yof lost 60 lbs by diet and exercise. joined a gymdoing cardio 5xwk. im having left arm bicep pain, and sometimes left forearm pain. feels like cramp. cardio wrk up was good. just to be safe. any idea what could cause this pain, intermittent?

In exercise,: and working out, you sometimes cause micro tears in the muscle fibers, this can cause pain.  This stimulates healing and strengthening of the muscle over time. Sometimes backing off on reps or weight, and using heat therapy can be useful.

can a partial tear of the distal bicep tendon cause pain in my forearm, wrist and make my fingers cramp. my injury happened 3 weeks ago.?

Depends: Near the distal biceps is the median nerve. Injury to that area can potentially injure that nerve or swelling puts pressure  on that nerve.  A test called emg/ncv can identify how well that nerve is functioning and help determine the cause. Stop at your local physical medicine and rehab or neurologist doctors office for more details.

Shoulder origin: These pains may be referred from a tendonitis of the shoulder or may indicate a pinched nerve in the neck or shoulder area. The jabbing,sharp nature of the discomfort suggests nerve pain,however. An orthopedic specialist is well qualified to evaluate and recommend any appropriate tests and treatment.

i have had a cramp in my right bicep for two weeks now every now and again it radiates down my arm, it sort of feels as if my arm needs to click but its the muscle that is sore. should i make an appointment with my gp. it occurred while i was driving?

Arm cramp: The cause of this symptom could be an irritable biceps muscle or a nerve impingement somewhere in the neck or shoulder. Rather than a GP, I recommend being evaluated by an orthopedic specialist or neurologist so that appropriate tests will be ordered in order to make a diagnosis.

Sore muscles: When you work out, the muscles produce a byproduct, lactic acid, that will make them feel sore the next day. You can try stretching, heat, massages and some anti inflammatory medicine like Ibuprofen to try to help. Resting the muscles for a day or so after heavy workout is best. Try not to work out so heavy or for so long next time. Lighter weight and more reps are just as beneficial.

Radiculopathy?: At your age the most likely cause is a pinched nerve in your neck, likely where the fifth cervical nerve exits.  Sometimes these nerves get pinched farther down in their trajectory.    
   At your age these symptoms are relatively unusual so I have to advise a formal evaluation by a physician even if I am right.   As you can understand the above is simply an educated guess.

Forearmyes, bicepsno: Dequervains can often cause pain on the thumb side of the forearm and into the thumb. It is not really associated with the biceps muscle.

Technique issue: Most commonly in biceps curls the forearm flexors also are used, which can create an overuse of these muscles. Also, the extensors that stabilize the flexors to maintain control during the curl may be strain with heavy weights or excessive repetitions.  In rare cases stress fractures can occur.

Biceps tendinitis: You may have injured the biceps tendon at the elbow. Avoid lifting and forceful rotation at the forearm and if pain persists have an orthopedic surgeon evaluate it.
