i was told i have a #10 chronic fractured rib and a #6 acute fractured rib. what do each of these mean?

: Did you fall a lot? Chronic #10 rib fracture means this rib was broken months or years ago and the fracture has been healed which can be seen on the X-ray film. Acute #6 rib fracture can be seen on X-ray within days of the injury when the crack or displaced rib sections is not healed yet.

Well, it is not idea: a chronic fracture would imply it is not healing…cystic changes is implying the surrounding bone is porous and the bone is not as strong…your doctor should suggest how to help heal the fracture..

Non union: Chronic Fx is not really a medical term. I assume they meat non Union or maybe Old fracture vs acute. Cystic changes are most likely related to degenerative arthritic changes or chronic arthritis .  The navicular bone is the first bone after the all on the medial/ inside of the foot. Ie begins the big toe and metatarsal back to just before the ankle or Talus bone. Are u a diabetic?

: Changes as described reflect old trauma and fractures/resulting deformities that can indeed cause recurring pain. Would include spine in dedicated imaging based on details of your pain.

Old Crush Fracture: Chronic=happened 3-6 months ago. Compression=squished. Long bone Fx is usually like breaking a stick. A spine bone is a cylinder that can be crushed down usually more on one side. It's like sitting on a cardboard box &amp; having it partially collapse. 
AND, they usually heal nicely but are very painful and can take 1-3 months to heal. 
Some docs do kyphoplasty which cements the Fx in 1 hr=0 pain!

i have chronic compression fractures in l2 and t2. no trauma to my back but had celestone injections age 6-11 now 58. could this be the cause for pain?

Not typically: The term chronic refers to the idea that the fractures are old and therefore healed.  Unless they healed in a highly collapsed manner, most healed compression fractures do not cause pain.  Similarly, steroid injections in and of themselves do not cause pain.  Degenerative disc disease, facet arthropathy, and SI problems are just three examples of more common causes.  Be seen for correct diagnosis.

Ankle fracture: Most likely, the word "Chronic" in front of your ankle fracture diagnosis, means you suffered an ankle fracture at some time in the past, and it may never have fully healed, or you get "ongoing" (or intermittent) pains and/or problems in your affected ankle associated with this diagnosis.

Compression fracture: A compression fracture of the thoracic (t5) is a sign of osteoporosis.  Bracing can help to heal the bone but a surgical procedure known as a kyphoplasty may be required.  A bone density test can determine the amount of osteoporosis and supplements stronger than calcium to strengthen the bones. See your primary care physician for further guidance..

pain in foot from injury 6 mos ago. mri report says i have a chronic avulsion fracture with associated cystic change. does this mean i have arthritis?

Not : Necessarily. Cystic change with bone means there is some porous spots of the bone,,,,sometimes this is repairable. Arthritic changes are often not repairable without surgery. Avulsion fractures often do not occur at the joint surface (though possible) arthritis would occur if the joint cartiledge was damaged.
