Wouldn't think so: I have never accepted the idea of a high fever caused by teething, ever. She may be teething while she has an ear infection, a stomach virus, or other illness but I don't ignore a high fever as teeth.

No: Children experience continuous tooth eruption, on average, between six months and thirty-two months of age. Coincidentally, they lose maternal antibody protection and begin to socialize at this same time. So, it's no wonder that signs of illness, and in particular fever, runny nose, diarrhea and rashes spawned the teething myths of yore. But, don't argue with your grandmother about it ...

No: Teething is a natural process of teeth erupting in the mouth of the child.  It does not cause complicated other situations. However it is important to keep these teething areas clean by using a wet cotton or soft brush and clean the areas.

Maybe mild flu-like: Teething is blamed much too often for many discomforts of infancy. Nonetheless, cutting teeth through the gums for some babies can be most uncomfortable--triggering fussinness, excessive drooling, refusal to nurse, and even low grade fever. But many other more serious illnesses--especially ear infections or pharyngitis--may mimic the same symptoms. It is best to have your pediatrician evaluate.

It develops it: Teething create a bacteremia, essentially inoculating the body systemically with bacteria from the mouth and challenging the immune system in a good way to develop and refine its system to future attacks.
