Teething fever myth: Teething usually dioes not give fever per se. Teething babies usually will put anything and everything in their mouth to calm their painful/ithcy gums and get infections and this is the usual cause of the fever and the diarrhea you see in teething babies. Sometiemns you see sympathetic diarrhea to teething.

No: Teething lowers the immune system along with putting lots of hands in the mouth causes germs and that is what causes fevers. It is not the teething directly but what happens because of teething. Try giving your child something soothing to suck on when teething to prevent sucking on hands like a frozen banana, cold carrot, cold teether or the like. Tylenol (acetaminophen) when really bad before bed can help too.
