More info needed: You should discuss this with your treatment provider. Perhaps it is a matter of poor cooperation. Are you wearing your elastics and appliances as prescribed? If you are, then perhaps your crossbite is of a skeletal nature, in which surgery will be required.

All Depends: This question require a lot more information. Is the cross bite an anterior cross bite, a postierior cross bite (unlaterla or bilateral). Without proper diagnostic records, no orthodontic professional can answer that question.

Not necessarily: Thre are situations where you and the orthodontist may decide to leave a posterior cross bite. Sometimes correcting this may be necessary to achieve what you're looking for, but not always.  See an orthodontist for an exam to discuss what is possible. Combination treat: IF you are in very bad malocclusion my best advice would be go to 1 or 2 oral surgeons and get their opinions on having surgery to correct part of the problem keeping in mind you may need orthodontics  before or after the surgery.  Hard to be more exact without x-rays or other things needed to give you a proper diagnosis.

Jaw surgery: The post-surgery orthodontic period can vary depending on the type of surgery, position of the jaws and stability during healing.  This time is usually between 8-12 months, but in more complex cases can be longer.

Be careful: If your cross bite is dental (upper teeth tipped inward) quad helix is modestly effective for adults.  There are so many more effective tooth expanders available.  If cross bite is skeletal (upper jaw too narrow when compared to lower) the jaw itself has to be widened, and in adults that means doing expansion coupled with surgery.  Make sure you see a qualified Orthodontic Specialist for your care

Partly: Braces can fix your bite but not the gum recession. See an endodontist to treat the gum recession.

Dental crossbites in adults are amenable to the various orthodontic modalities used to correct crooked teeth. Your orthodontist is in the best position to qualify the type of crossbite and answer your questions about length.
