Be careful: If your cross bite is dental (upper teeth tipped inward) quad helix is modestly effective for adults. There are so many more effective tooth expanders available. If cross bite is skeletal (upper jaw too narrow when compared to lower) the jaw itself has to be widened, and in adults that means doing expansion coupled with surgery. Make sure you see a qualified Orthodontic Specialist for your care

It can: Traditional literature would say that expanders can not be used effectively past the age of puberty, but we have had surprisingly good results with patients into their 20's. That is not to say that it will definitely work for you-- at your age the bones may have fused to the point that an expander will have no effect, but as we have told our 20-something patients-- there's little harm in trying
