Eye exam: Never delay eye examination and treatment if you have had a herpes breakout of any kind. You must be evaluated and examined by a health care eye professional.

Depends: Eye strain is a possible symptom of dry eyes. There are two common causes of dry eyes -- low tear production or poor tear quality leading to rapid tear evaporation. You can try otc artificial tears, but ultimately you will need an eye md to diagnose and give appropriate treatment to your specific underlying cause.

Variable: My eyes get very  blurry when looking at red color for long periods of time. This can vary. You should also see what  the degree of brightness does to the eyes.

: I think you have made an accurate diagnosis of the cause of your eye symptoms and the cure should be obvious. Too much staring at a computer or smart phone markedly reduces eye blinking leading to very dry and irritated eyes. Reduce your time on your smart phone and eye symptoms should resolve.

: Not very sure about that. Depends how long this has occurred and the @ other health issues. If problem continues, suggest you take pics of the problem and visit your dermatologist for possible workup of other possibilities.

Possibly: Red eyes is just a sign of irritation. It is very non-specific and can be caused by numerous etiologies including eye strain. Eye strain leads to dry eyes, which could then cause red eyes.  You should see an eye md for appropriate diagnosis and treatment.

Dry eyes: Please consider seeing your eye doctor. It's unlikely that thyroid or head injury is causing random red eyes.  A common cause is dry eyes, but it could also be other things.

No: there is no known damage from computer light. If you find it more comfortable by all means shift your color settings

: Yes. The problem is often labeled coughing petechiae since it is seen frequently after the strain of coughing or vomiting raises capillary pressure. The findings are generally limited to the neck and above &amp; may involve the face/whites of the eyes/nearby eye tissues, etc. By itself it does not indicate any significant medical problem.

: Some eyes have an extra rich vascular collection on the surface so they might appear red but actually are normal.  Eye strain can occur from undetected need for eye glasses.  You should book an appointment with an ophthalmolgist to evaluate these.
