Important: If you're taking antibiotics due to swelling before surgery, it's very important to reduce the bacterial population prior to surgery.  If after the surgery, it's important to prevent an infection is a fresh surgical site.

Tattoo: Would suggest deferring the tattoo for some time after having the wisdom teeth extracted. This is likely to produce bacteremia (bacteria in the blood stream), and despite antibiotics, if you have inflamed skin with what is in essence a foreign body needled into it, this creates a significant risk of secondary infection. In a cost/benefit analysis it would be a hands down no.

i am in my late 50s. i recently had surgery, and subsequently took several antibiotics for a staph infection. my teeth grayed significantly. im sure its the dentin. i have tried bleaching, to no avail. my teeth are clean and polished. help?

: In adults, EXTRINSIC or SUPERFICIAL DISCOLORATION of the teeth has been reported with both tetracycline and beta-lactam antibiotics. This doesn't involve the tooth dentin but due to formation of deposits on the tooth surface. This side effect is rare and mostly reversible. The discoloration can usually be removed by careful brushing or professional cleaning. You should visit a dentist.

Not likely pregnant: It is a low likelihood that you got pregnant on the Nexplanon. This form of contraception is considered "Highly Effective" and you would only have a 2 out of 1000 chance of conceiving. The antibiotics should not have effected the contraceptive effects of Nexplanon. Hope this helps.

i'm getting my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow morning but i've been taking antibiotics for strep throat for a couple days with my sore throat and coughing not being that bad anymore is it safe for me to continue with the surgery?

: That's a decision for your Surgeon to make. He/she has examined you, knows your health history, the meds you take, and the anticipated complexity of the surgery. and by the way, make sure to take ALL of your antibiotics. Don't quit early.

In what way?: In what way is she "not recovered" for her abscess?  Are you referring to pain? Swelling? Fever? Bleeding?

How long has she been on antibiotics and which ones?  When were the teeth taken out?   

It takes time for antibiotics to work, for resolution of pain, swelling and bleeding.

You should call the dentist who treated her to answer your questions.

Yes, and worse: Antibiotics for tooth infections do not solve a problem or fix a tooth, they just take care of the symptoms. The problem is still there. If left untreated, the pain comes back worse. See a dentist for care.

Abscess: By now it should have resolved.  However it is important to get the recomended treatment.

Tooth abscess: Would suggest a local urgent care or your dentist as many offices have on call docs that can address such issues over the weekend and also schedule you to be seen in the office next week.

i have been nauseated for 5 days now and can't hartley hold anything down after having a tooth pulled i had to stop taking my antibiotic. ?

Worried: I am assuming you are wondering if taking antibiotics changed the efficacy of  the birth control pills you were taking. Antibiotics can have such effect. At this point you might want to see your medical doctor to rule out any other medical problems first.  That is the only logical way.
