Potentially: If there is severe pain and pressure, sometimes fully effective numbing of the area can not  be achieved and the extraction may be painful. Other times, the tooth may  be extracted without pain.

A little: Your dentist will use local anesthesia to numb the site. You can request pain medication for pain that may occur when the local anesthetic wears off.

Cannot predict: Without seeing the area before and after and the damage done by the abscess it is not possible to say. Are you on antibiotic ? Often this will help the swelling go down. No: If the abscess does not require root canal therapy or extraction of the affected tooth, then most likely periodontal surgery would be involved. In addition, an abscess on a previously treated root canal would probably require an apicoectomy.

Yes: After the tooth is removed.  The dentist will clean out the infected tissues around the tooth.  Then the blood will fill in where tooth used to be and form a clot.  If the clot is lost prematurely you will get dry socket (quite painful).  But, the clot (or the hole as you called it)  will eventually be filled in by bone and gum tissue.

That concerns me...: I would make sure to drink adequate amounts of water.  Another potential problem may be that some medications also cause some light-headedness.  I would discuss this with your oral surgeon.  That surgeon understands your particulars and may be able to better problem solve.

Antibiotics will: There is no need to be unduly concerned about the spread of infection.  If you had an infection, your dentist should have given you a prescription for antibiotics which should prevent the spread of any infection.  Take the antibiotics as prescribed and follow all your dentist's instructions and be sure to be seen for a follow-up visit.  If you have any questions or concerns, call your dentist.

Talk to your doctor: Monitoring the course of an infection requires talking and exam by your doctor, and can't reasonably be done here. If you are still having fever, or if you develop skin lesions, this may be a sign of endocarditis and you should seek medical attention immediately.
