A member asked:

I test rpr neg at 6weeks then test again and weakly reactive 1:1 at 8 weeks. i treated gonorehea with antibiotic at 4 weeks so is it effect the test at 6weeks for negative. do i have syphilis now?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The gonorrhea is unrelated to the RPR which is strictly a syphilis screen. 1:1 is minimally positive and requires a follow up test (usually an FTA-ABS) to diagnose syphilis, which should be done automatically with a reactive RPR.
