A member asked:

Std panel all came negative except hsv-1 igg test- high positive(22.5). hsv-2 igg negative. i have no symptoms or any outbreaks ever. last year i tested all negative. i am really worried. can i be false positive for hsv-1 or do any confirmatory test?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes HSV 1 tests can be false positive. It is the HSV-2 which causes problems in humans and worrisome not so much HSV!. So do not worry much and have your doc repeat a western blot type of test next time
