A member asked:

My igg hsv-1 results came back positive with an index value of 1.35. ive never had a positive std/sti result in the past, have had no symptoms, igm was negative. should i retest considering the low index value? i read this could be a false positive?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

More than half of adults have been infected with HSV 1 and it usually is harmless other than occasional cold sores. Do not worry about this result and it is not worth repeating.
