Very likely a true positive, i.e. you have HSV2. (Low positives often are false, but above 3.0 usually means infection.) OTOH, the tests aren't perfect and consider a repeat test. If still positive, best to see an infectious diseases physician or other doc who understands STIs and herpes well. Good luck.

Around 12-15% Americans have HSV-2, highest incidence in non Hispanic Black and lowest incidence in non Hispanic Asian. Asymptomatic cases are not uncommon. If you are asymptomatic, treatment is not needed and treatment does not eradicate the virus. However, if you receive chronic suppressive therapy you may reduce the risk of transmission to your HSV-uninfected sexual partner.
