A member asked:

I have been taking augmentin 875/125 for 7 days (cat bite) and have an sti test, chlamydia and gonorrhea, on friday. could the antibiotics cause a false negative?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The tests today generally depend on finding the DNA of the germs, not live germs. The Augmentin might kill off some of the germs, but that level of treatment is unlikely to remove all traces of their dead bodies from your test site.
