How many years rpr still effective to detect syphilis ? just read that rpr will show negative in untreated latent syphilis, can rpr still accurate even in 2-3 years after potential exposure? thanks for your patience doc?

If you got infected with syphilis and were not treated adequately, RPR will remain positive for the rest of your life. There are additional tests that remain positive even after proper treatment.

RPR often becomes negative over time, even without treatment for syphilis, but only after many years. Within 2-3 years, a negative result is proof you never had syphilis. Stop worrying about it.
