Side of my tongue in back on right if i pull it out i see reddish bumps, kinda very slightly bigger than other side and feels a bit sore, smoked but quit 40 years ago, never drank and no hpv, could this be cancer? what are the odds? worried!! 59 y/o?

Most likely it is not cancer... oral cancer would not manifest itself as a series of "reddish bumps", and it certainly not be bilateral in nature. Could be circumvallate papilla. See your dentist to be perfectly certain.

REDDISH BUMPS COULD BE NORMAL IN MOST CASES BUT YOUR HISTORY IS GOOD FOR NOT GETTING CANCER. YOU MAY HAVE EATEN SOMETHING THAT SCRAPED OR IRRITATED YOUR TONGUE TO CAUSE SORENESS. BEST SEE YOUR DENTIST FOR A BIOPSY IF WARRENTED.
