Clues found: The Pap smear in not like a blood sugar test or throat culture where one finding is produced. The specimen is cellular material & fluids applied to a microscope slide. Some days they may see the cervical cell alterations that are found in vaginosis. Occasionally the single celled organism that causes trichomonas vaginalis will be identified. They wouldn't report either if not seen.
