ASCUS pap smear: ASCUS means Atypical Squamous Cells of Undetermined Significance. The causes are unknown. Some but not all cases may be caused by HPV. It is harmless and usually clears up over time. It does not lead to cancer or any other imortant health conditions. If you remain uncertain or concerned, discuss with the doctor who did your pap smear. In the meantime, don't worry.
