Usually: may be positive for life, with lower levels (FTA). Cascading refers to further testing based an initial screen (RPR) positive result.

Doc tested me for syphilis with FTA-ABS. It was positive. After 10 confirmatory test only 2 FTA-ABS were pos. 4 rpr test neg. only 1 partner hes neg but went to China 10 yrs ago &got shots. Syphilis or do I have lupus? Could I got it from the shot?
What are the chances of a Syphilis RPR test result changing from negative at 9 weeks to positive after the 12 week mark? Do the 3 weeks make much difference in regards to antibody production?
