A member asked:

I was tested for syphilis. rpr was pisitive(1:1) and tppa was negative. does in mean i am infected?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Syphilis: Probably not. The RPR is a screening test which is very sensitive but not as specific, so that you can have false-positive results. The TPPA is far more specific and used to detect the RPR positives that are falsely positive.
