Ultrasound exam: The endometrial cells may indicate that the lining of the uterus (endometrium) has increased in size, and the physician ordered the ultrasound to confirm this. A biopsy will be indicated if the lining is increased to 1 cm or more, as abnormal cells may exist and this needs to be discovered.
