Here are some...: To confirm UTI is based on history + urinalysis + urine culture. History raises the concern of possible UTI; UA + U-culture are to confirm, but always using properly collected urine specimen so to avoid contamination as you mentioned. Clinically, strep B may cause UTI but rare since all bacteria are opportunistic to reflect personal unique defense ability. For detail, ask your doctor timely.

Collection methods: If you squatted and peed in a cup, part of your urine cycled into your vagina and that event leads to more contamination. To get a good specimen, you need to prepare the labia with a wipe, spread the folds and pee like a guy into the collecting cup. They can also get a good specimen with a catheter. If you have symptoms and GBS in a good spec, it is a GBS UTI.
