Diagnosed with urethritis but tested negative for UTI and stds. What other possible causes/treatments?

Could be chlamydia?: People are told they have non-gonnococcal urethritis and they have infection with chlamydia. Also bugs develop resistance to antibiotics. Get in touch with either the local infectious disease maven at your hospital or the state health department and go from there.

Acetaminophen: Acetaminophen (tylenol) is a safe alternative. You can take 2 extra strength (500mg) tablets up to four times per day.

Opioids: Allergy to nsaids like Aspirin and inbuprofen does limit some options. It does not limit the use of opioids (narcotics) like oxycodone, hydrocodone, codeine, and morphine.

No: There are several concentrations/strengths of cortisone cream. It is doubtful that aloe plants will have the same anti-inflammatory effect as the usual dosages of Hydrocortisone recommended by doctors.

Not as well: Aloe can be very soothing, but it works entirely different from hydrocortisone, a topical steroid. They can help with the inflammation and rash, but you won't know if it works as well for your skin unless you try.

Infection: You have an illness...Probably viral (because most illnesses are). Strep throat can also produce those symptoms. It is always a good choice to be seen when you feel so awful...If ears hurt too it could be an ear infection and having treatment choices is very helpful. Make an appointment to be seen.

May or may not: Gross blood in the urine with flank pain until proven otherwise can be a sign of kidney stones. Uti typically starts from the bladder and if left untreated can potentially travel to to the kidneys with serious consequences. Follow where the pain the starts. Stone starts from the back vs UTI from the bladder.

UTI blood in urine: Uti can cause visible blood in the urine. If no x-ray were performed such as ct or ultrasound then you should have one soon. I recommend a followup w a urologist as soon as possible. A subsequent urinalysis is critical should no work up is recommended on your initial visit. If your pain worsens or you develop fevers, go to your nearest er if your primary care doctor can't see you right away.
