Several possible: You may have had a long term subclinical infection which led to pid. That is not likely, but possible. You may have had sex only with him, but occasionally your partner may not remember that they have had sex with somebody else. Also, you have to know specifically what your boyfriend was tested for. There are many stds. Be careful.
