PID can be caused: From bacteria in the vagina, say, if you do a high pressure douche. You may get a clinical diagnosis of pid without infection though. We are quick to call pelvic pain pid to treat it and avoid problems from pid. You may, say, have another issue, went to the er, got treated for pid, now think you had an infection when it was something different. See your ob/gyn, especially if pain resumes gd luc.

PID: Is caused by sexually transmitted infections (sti's) also called std's. Gonorrhea & chlamydia are main culprits but others can cause pid too. The infection go up from the vagina into the uterus, fallopian tubes & pelvic area & can cause irritation, scar tissue &long term damage to the fallopian tubes &other internal organs. Pid is very painful &u would know if you had it.
