What for?: Your body is like a four wheel car. If you have 3 wheels, it's great to add one. If you have all 4 wheels, adding more wheels serves no purpose. The same is true with essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals, fatty and amino acids. Once your body has enough, adding more serves no purpose other than to enrich the people who sold it to you.

Yes: It is generally safe to take these vitamins. That is because they are generally worthless and not very toxic. If you have a proven vitamin deficiency, then take that specific vitamin. Otherwise, eat a balanced diet, go exercise and skip the vitamins.
