Sinus fluid: It is possible. However, sinus fluid can predispose the patient to recurrent infection.

Patient age ?: The maxillary sinus cavities become evident by 6 mo of age and may retain fluid until a year of age before natural drainage will clear it. Fluid found after a year of age is suggestive of an infection but must be paired with other clinical symptoms to make that label stick.
