Signs and Symptoms: Generally signs and symptoms are the initial determinants. Nausea, vomiting, oily stools, pain in the upper right quadrant that may radiate to the right shoulder blade, and in serious blockages jaundice. The pain can be brought on after a fatty meal. Ultrasound and other imaging can identify stones and other anomalies. If confirmed, generally the gallbladder is removed laparoscopically.
