Scarring from : Previous surgery makes operation more technically difficult, and injury to nerves, testicle, and another recurrence is higher. But it is still a safe operation, so, if you have a symptomatic recurrent inguinal hernia, you should proceed with surgical repair.

Scar tissue : Hernia repair may recur. Smoking, weight gain and time among other thing may lead to break down of repair. For the surgeon to re-repair the scar tissue prevents the ability to see the tiisie plains. But the outcome is still good and better than living with a painful hernia. See a board certified surgeon. Be well.

Reoperation: Reoperation is generally more difficult because of scar tissue making it more difficult identify separate anatomical structures that are often stuck together with variable intensity. A redo inguinal hernia repair should generally be done utilizing a different strategy and approach than the first time that didn't work. Hope that makes sense, and helps.
