Hard to tell: It is easy for muscles to become sore- and increase in the amount of physical activity someone does and cause a temporary muscle soreness. Bones become sore when they are stressed and the remodeling cells cannot keep up with the cells that are being broken down (stress reaction). Your doctor can help figure out which is which with a history and physical exam.
