Statin medication that treat high cholesterol are best taken at bedtime. It has been shown that they cause better reduction in LDL cholesterol when taken at bedtime

While some medications in simvastatin’s class may be taken during the day, simvastatin has the greatest impact on cholesterol when taken at night. For that reason, changing to taking it during the day is a decision best made by your doctor, who knows your health history. They might also consider switching your medication, particularly if the reason for your dose reduction was muscle soreness.
