Have you been seen: Without seeing your xray hard to say but you should probably get seen by an orthopaedic surgeon. Treatment will depend on how bad of a break: whether there is substantial displacement and thus need for a reduction (realignment of the broken bones) either closed or possibly surgery.

Is your splint tight: Hand swelling, in the absence of a specific injury, may be due to the form of immobilization being too tight. If you have a splint, loosen it and elevate your hand well above your heart. If the swelling improves over a few hours, you have your answer.
