Muscle Mania: The mechanism of potential injury plays an important roll in the subsequent management. Without a better understanding of the nature of the injury it is impossible to recommend management other than to say ice is always a good starting point for acute swelling due to an injury. Protect the skin against frostbite and if persistent disability seek an examination.

Torn muscle/tendon: you must be examined and placed in a forearm support or splint and immediately start on antiinflammatory mediciation: if the swelling has persisted for 3 weeks, this is a serious condition.
