Tri-Dot Test: Tri-dot test (http://www.Jmitra.Co.In/ourdivision/diagnosticdivision/rapidtestkits/hivrange/hiv_tri_dot.Aspx) looks for antibodies to hiv, rather than for actual viral particles. Therefore, most people infected w/hiv will turn positive in 2mo while 97% in 3mo (http://www.Sfaf.Org/hiv-info/testing/hiv-test-window-periods.Html). So window period is 2-3mo assuming no unsafe sex during that time.

HIV antibody Testing: You should have a valid answer by twelve weeks on this test. It is not the best test in an acute exposure. Your question also implies that you do not know that HIV infection can be prevented after a high risk exposure as long as the appropriate action is taken within 72 hours of exposure. This process known as post exposure prophylaxis is very effective at preventing infection.
