Coumadin (warfarin): One of the oldest drugs is available couamdin or warfarin, you need to frequently check your blood level- this is a drawback, newer drugs are in the marker.

Complicated: Depending on why you got a blood clot and other conditions present at the time of the diagnosis of the clot you might be getting different medications. For example if there is also a diagnosis of cancer a physician might be more inclined to use an injection instead of a pill to treat a lung clot. Your risk of bleeding, kidney function and other medications present will determine which the best is.
